AI mapping assistant

Use the EDFlow mapping assistant to draft a site mapping profile from sample HL7 v2, FHIR or CSV: synthetic samples only in the sandbox, allow-list scrubbing, a proposed profile validated against the event schema, and nothing applied without review.

  • Turned off by default

The mapping assistant helps you write or fix a mapping profile from a sample message. It proposes a change, proves it with the real adapter, and waits for you to save it.

Mapping assistant: a sample HL7 v2 message with a suggested mapping profile, each field checked against the event schema and waiting for review.

Where it runs

  • Sandbox: synthetic samples only. The sandbox's synthetic-only checks run first; the page says "Synthetic samples only. Real messages are refused."
  • Customer test and live: off until the hospital's privacy office records its approval for this feature, because a sample from a hospital feed is personal health information until proven otherwise.

Steps

Paste a sample

HL7 v2, a FHIR R4 Bundle, or CSV (for a catalogue or historical benchmark import), up to 64 KB.

See what was kept

The sample is scrubbed by allow-list before anything else: only the fields a mapping profile can use are kept (message header, event times, patient class, location components, disposition, arrival and departure times, order codes and status, timing, specimen codes, role codes). Every identifier, name, date of birth and all free text becomes a typed placeholder; timestamps are shifted. If anything still looks like personal information, the whole sample is refused. A notice shows what was kept and replaced.

Review the proposal

The current profile runs through the real adapter first. The assistant then proposes a change to the profile, explains each part, and re-runs the adapter with it: every resulting event is validated against the event schema and the prohibited-field tripwire. It shows the diff, the events by type with pass or fail, and the gaps (codes with no catalogue entry, triggers not handled, fields missing for a milestone).

Save as a testing version

Save as new profile version (testing) needs integration.manage and your explicit approval. It never activates a profile. A proposal that produces any invalid event can't be saved.

From the unmapped codes list

On Unmapped codes, the assistant can suggest a catalogue entry for a code from its code system and display text. Nothing is mapped until you accept it.

What it doesn't do

  • Read real patient data in the sandbox.
  • Activate a profile, map a code or change the catalogue without you.
  • Open links or follow instructions contained in a sample.
