Manual console

Run EDFlow visit states by hand when there is no EHR feed or the feed is wrong: every manual action, the 10-second undo, overrides, back-dating and validation warnings.

The manual console is a first-class way to run EDFlow, not a fallback demo. Sites without an EHR feed run entirely from it; sites with a feed use it during downtime and to correct the feed. Every manual action produces the same kind of event as the EHR, so patients, analytics and audit treat it exactly the same. Staff always see which facts are manual.

Where to find the actions

  • Board row menu, one tap: triage, seen, tests under way, results back, reassessed, disposition, call back.
  • Patient detail, quick actions in the header and Update status for everything else.
  • Companion app patient card: assign me, seen, seen again, add a task, start observation, call back, pause updates, hide from the patient view, approve pairing.

Undo

Each action shows a 10-second Undo toast. Undo restores the previous value and cancels any patient notification the action would have sent. After 10 seconds, use Correct a time or a new action.

Overrides

With patient.override (charge nurses), you can mark a manual action as an override. It wins over the EHR for that fact until someone clears it. The board and the patient page show an Override marker, and every override and clear is audited. See Overrides and corrections.

Validation

The console blocks impossible actions (for example acting on a cancelled visit) and asks you to confirm unusual ones: seen before triage, departure with pending tests, disposition without seen.

Registering during EHR downtime

When the feed is active, the registration page warns you to register only during downtime. The visit is marked for linking; when the EHR arrival comes in, Link to EHR visit merges them, keeping the patient's sign-in, family links, requests and summary. See Register a patient.
