Updates
Get text or app updates when the person you're following reaches a big step, read the update history and hospital information, and use the family helper where the hospital offers it.
Tell a staff member now
Don't wait for a reply on your phone. Tell any nurse or staff member right away, or press your call bell. If you're in the waiting room, go to the triage desk.
If this is an emergency, call 911. For health advice, call Health811 at 811.
The family view updates by itself while it's open. You can also choose to get a message when there's a big update.
Text updates
Open Settings on the family view and turn on text updates.
- Type your own phone number.
- Type the 6-digit code we text you.

Your number is stored encrypted and deleted when the link ends. To stop, reply STOP or tap Stop receiving updates in Settings. That ends updates on your phone only. Others who have the link keep theirs.
Ask for a call back
On the family view, Ask for a call back lets you leave your number for the care team. Type your own number, then the 6-digit code we text you. A nurse calls when they can, and the card tells you when they have seen it. Your number is kept only until the call-back is closed. This is not for emergencies: in an emergency, call 911.
In the app's family mode, the same card is on the home screen.
App notifications
In the app, you can turn on notifications. They say only: There's a new update.
Update history
Tap Update history to see the updates you received, newest first, with times. Before the first one, you see: Updates will show here when there's news.
Hospital information
Tap Hospital info for the address, directions with Open in Maps, parking, visitor and caregiver rules, food and pharmacy hours, Wi-Fi and the main phone number.

Catching up
Some hospitals show a short "since you last looked" note at the top of the view when you come back after a while. It's built from the same steps you already see.
The family helper
Some hospitals offer a helper that answers practical questions, like visiting rules, parking or how the emergency department works. It uses AI and answers from the hospital's information. It can't share health details. It says that only the person you're following and their care team can share those.
If you're worried about the person, it tells you to speak to staff in person or call the hospital. In an emergency, call 911.
