Timeline

The timeline in EDFlow lists every step of your emergency visit with its time, from checking in to leaving, and what usually comes next.

Tell a staff member now

Don't wait for a reply on your phone. Tell any nurse or staff member right away, or press your call bell. If you're in the waiting room, go to the triage desk.

If this is an emergency, call 911. For health advice, call Health811 at 811.

The timeline is the story of your visit so far. Each step shows when it happened. The newest step is at the bottom. To open it, tap See full timeline on the Visit screen.

What usually happens next

After your steps, the timeline shows the steps that usually come next, in a lighter style. They are labelled Usually next and never have a time. Your visit may go a different way.

Things to know

  • Steps are never moved or deleted. If more tests are ordered after results come back, new steps are added in time order.
  • A step looks the same whether it came from the hospital's computer system or from a staff member.
  • A result step appears only when the hospital shows results as back. Some hospitals wait a few minutes so a clinician sees it first.
