Release 1.2
EDFlow 1.2: the Integration API and developer portal, signed webhooks, the documentation site with automated screenshots, brand configuration and co-branding, email and SMS delivery, and AI features that stay off until a site approves them.
Release 1.2 opens EDFlow to hospital integration teams and adds the documentation you're reading. Nothing changes for patients or staff until a site turns a new capability on.
For patients
- Clearer going-home summaries, with follow-ups you can add to your calendar and a summary link that asks for your date of birth.
- Text updates, and texting the summary link to yourself, where your hospital turns them on. Numbers are confirmed with a 6-digit code first.
- Where a hospital approves it: an assistant that answers questions about your visit from the same information you already see. See Ask the assistant.
For family
- Text updates for the big steps, from your own phone number, confirmed with a code and deleted when the link ends.
- An update history of what you were told.
For the care team
- The companion app's staff mode on hospital-managed phones: inbox, my patients, patient card, department and on-shift status.
- Where a site turns them on: a request queue digest and patient message drafts that you review before sending. See AI assistance.
- Quick-reference cards for every role in these docs.
Public product experience
The product carousel keeps its place when switching views. Autoplay and the progress bar share a nine-second timer; hovering does not stop it, and Play resumes from the paused position. The desktop hero uses 64 px side padding.
The public website now has photographic product pages and an interactive preview of the patient, family and care-team views. All people, places and visits in the marketing imagery and previews are illustrative. Preview requests and sharing controls use local sample data and do not contact a care team or change a real visit.
The Product menu opens with a pointer or touch and spans the page width. Its photographs fade in and out in a subtle sequence that reverses smoothly when the pointer moves away. Scrolling closes it without moving the page back to the menu; reduced motion removes the transitions. Preview tabs and dots also work with a keyboard. Automatic rotation pauses during interaction and respects reduced-motion preferences.
For administrators
- Co-branding with your hospital's logo (production only, with a second approver).
- Email and SMS channels with generic templates, send-a-test to your own verified contact, and the outbox.
- AI settings per site with governance gates and a kill switch; everything is off by default. See AI.
- Analytics: Ask your data, where enabled.
For developers
- The Integration API: OAuth 2.0 client credentials (
private_key_jwt, client secret, mTLS), ingest as normalized events, FHIR R4 and HL7 v2 over HTTPS, reads, request write-back. - Standard Webhooks with 18 event types, redelivery and recovery.
- The developer portal, the sandbox with fault injection and conformance profiles, and Mirth Connect / OIE channel templates.
- See the API changelog.
For IT and security
- The security review pack, the sub-processor list and AI governance.
- Credentials with per-organization KMS keys, and the privileged-access model.
