If you feel worse

If you feel worse in the emergency department, tell a nurse or staff member in person right away. What the I feel worse button also does, what happens when you're offline or outside, and what to do after you go home.

Tell a staff member now

Don't wait for a reply on your phone. Tell any nurse or staff member right away, or press your call bell. If you're in the waiting room, go to the triage desk.

What the button does

The I feel worse button is on every screen. When you tap it:

  1. Your phone shows this at once, even without internet:

    Tell a staff member now

Don't wait for a reply on your phone. Tell any nurse or staff member right away, or press your call bell. If you're in the waiting room, go to the triage desk.
  2. At the same time, it sends an urgent message to your care team. You don't need to confirm. If you tap it more than once, your care team gets one message.

  3. The screen shows Sending to your care team…, then We've also let your care team know. Please still tell someone in person.

  4. When a staff member answers, you see that they know you asked for help. The instruction to tell someone in person stays at the top.

If the message can't be sent

If your phone is offline, you see: We couldn't send this. Please tell a staff member now. Go to a staff member now. Your phone will not send the message later.

If you're outside the department

If you told us you stepped out, the screen says:

Come back to the emergency department now. If you can't, call 911.

It shows a button to call 911 and still sends the message to your care team.

If you're here for someone else

If you're here with your child, the screen says: If your child seems worse, tell a nurse or staff member right away.

After you go home

After you leave, the button doesn't send anything to the emergency department. It says:

If this is an emergency, call 911. For health advice, call Health811 at 811.

You'll see buttons to Call 911 and Call Health811.
