Zones, beds and shifts
Define EDFlow zones with their streams, beds and EHR location codes, treatment-space capacity, shift times and the CTAS reassessment intervals for the waiting room.
Zones and beds describe the department's layout. Charge nurses assign staff to them each shift, and that assignment routes patient requests. See Zones and shifts.

Zones
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name and code | For example "Acute A", A |
| Area type | Resuscitation, acute, fast track, internal waiting, hallway, triage, waiting room |
| Stream | Used by estimates: a fast-track patient's wait uses the fast-track stream's history |
| Colour | Staff-only colour from the brand's zone swatches. Never shown to patients |
Beds
Each bed has a label, a zone and the EHR location codes that map to it. Unmapped location codes appear in Unmapped codes.
Capacity
The number of treatment spaces. The volume suggestion uses occupancy against it. See Department volume.
Shifts
Shift name, start time and length (default Day 07:00–19:00 and Night 19:00–07:00). "On shift" and request routing follow the current shift's assignments.
Reassessment intervals
How often waiting patients should be reassessed, per CTAS. The board shows "Due" and "Overdue" against these. Defaults: CTAS 2 every 15 min, 3 every 30, 4 every 60, 5 every 120.

Set the hospital information patients and family see in EDFlow: names, address and entrance, phones, Wi-Fi, parking, visitor policies, wayfinding points with maps, the patient portal and co-branding.
Request types
Edit the EDFlow request catalogue: enable, reorder and customise request types, routes and pools, FYI-only types, care-flag rules, service-level targets, and the locked I feel worse request.
