Visit cards
The EDFlow visit card print queue: automatic printing after triage, the 15-minute reprint window, card layouts and recipients, the print station, and what's printed on the card.
Every registered patient who should use EDFlow gets a card (or, at some sites, a wristband label). Cards print at a print station: a computer with a printer, registered by a manager, that runs the print page under its own device credential. It is never signed in as a person.
The print queue

The station page lists new card jobs, prints them automatically, and marks each printed or failed. From the station you can Reprint or Skip a job. A card appears within seconds of triage (or registration, depending on your site).
| Paramètre | Par défaut | Valeurs permises | Effet |

Sending a card by hand
Patient → Send card to printer: choose the layout, who gets the card, and the station. See Visit cards and sign-in help.
The 15-minute window
- Within 15 minutes of issue, sending again reprints the same card.
- After 15 minutes, sending again means Reissue: a new code, and the old card stops working immediately. Existing phones stay signed in unless you tick Also sign out devices.
- The printable code is deleted from the station as soon as the card prints, or after 15 minutes. Nobody can print it again after that.
Layouts
| Layout | Size |
|---|---|
| Wallet card | 85 × 55 mm |
| Thermal label | 4 × 2 in |
| Full sheet | Letter or A4, with a cut line |
| Wristband label | Only where the site chooses it. Every phone that signs in with it is asked for the date of birth |
The card
- The QR code and the visit code (
XXXX-XXXX, orXXXXX-XXXXXat visit-code-only sites). - The hospital name and the patient's initials (the site can choose none or first initial).
- "Scan to follow your visit. Or go to … and enter your visit code." in English and French.
- The not-an-emergency line in both languages.
Who gets the card
Ask at triage or registration: the patient, a guardian (for a child), a substitute decision-maker, or youth-confidential. Choose Not appropriate for EDFlow when the patient shouldn't have one; then no card prints.
